Amazon launches FBA service to boost eCommerce business in Australia

In an effort to promote its local retail business across the Australian subcontinent, Amazon is introducing Fulfillment By Amazon (FBA) services in Australia to help local businesses store & sell their goods to the customers through the FBA program. The key officials of the eCommerce & cloud computing firm have stated that the project will assist dealers to ship their products to the Amazon warehouse. FBA reportedly also provides consumers with a facility to view the products on its Website and offers delivery free of costs for the orders valued at over USD 49. After the customer places a shipping order, Amazon apparently picks, packs, and dispatches the goods to the customer’s destination.

In another move to expand its online retail business in Australia, the firm has also launched the Amazon Prime initiative, a yearly membership with a free of charge two-day shipping service along with other service benefits by the second half of 2018.

For the record, the Amazon Prime scheme launched by Amazon in Australia costs USD 99 a year in the U.S., where it has nearly 90 million end-users. Experts are of the opinion that these schemes have contributed to Amazon’s success in the retail business. In December last year, the online retail giant had also introduced a website for Australia on which it offered price-offs over the products and a one-day delivery facility to customers. The company seemingly, had also allotted funds worth USD 250 million in India as a part of its USD 5 billion commitment and USD 580 million in Souq.com, the largest eCommerce platform of the Middle East.

Post Amazon’s move, claim experts, other eCommerce firms are likely to follow suit. This strategic move is also forecast to promote the rapidly emerging eCommerce business not only in Australia, but also across the globe.
