Automotive industry giant DB Schenker to deploy advanced solutions

DB Schenker, a renowned supply chain management & logistics solutions provider, has recently announced that it is planning to deploy innovative & advanced solutions to target further growth in the automotive aftermarket. Apparently, in addition to its core services, the company also aims to provide 3D printing services for manufacturing vehicle parts that are used in the automotive & transportation industry.

Sources reveal that the company is also planning to deliver solutions that will meet the technological requirements of additive manufacturing in the automotive & transportation industry.

The new services will aid customers to reduce their warehousing costs as the deployment innovative solutions will enable the spare parts to be manufactured as per the requirements, says DB Schenker. Reports also claim that the company will be planning to expand its capabilities in transporting and storing lithium batteries that are categorized to be hazardous items and need special storage and transportation.

Stephan Allgeier, the global business development Vice President of DB Schenker, was quoted stating that the company plans to offer their customers the best logistics services in the automotive aftermarket sector. He further added that the company’s vast experience in the automotive & transportation industry and its highly-trained specialists that are dedicated toward developing innovative and quality programs will help the firm smoothly achieve its goals.

According to reports, the extensive range of services will include the production-related activities ranging from the semi knocked-down (SKD) and completely knocked-down (CKD) parts to accessories & replacement part logistics. Through this the company plans to offer one-stop solutions to the entire automotive & transportation industry.

Meanwhile, earlier this month Hochschule Fresenius & MAN Truck & Bus provided DB Schenker pilot vehicles that will be used in a research project of the logistics application. According to reports, the firms’ joint platooning project has been designed to deploy networked trucks for the very first time in a practical application of the logistics industry. The cooperative venture will test truck convoys in the coming several months, cite reliable sources.
