Eastman MXF221 debuts in polymers & advanced materials industry

Eastman Chemical Company, one of the foremost polymers and advanced materials industry giants, has recently announced to showcase its next-gen disinfectant-ready polymer at the Medical Design and Manufacturing (MD&M) West trade event to be held next month in California. The latest polymer, christened as Eastman MXF221, is reportedly a biocompatible medical-grade plastic that can be used in medical device housings and hardware space to ensure safer healthcare environments.

It would be prudent to mention that the current healthcare environment has necessitated the wide-scale utilization of advanced plastics along with better plastics design, selection, and testing. Furthermore, as the polymers and advanced materials market evolves in the forthcoming years, the leading manufacturers will be increasingly compelled to take into account the material capabilities at all stages of product enhancement process.

Considering the aforementioned aspects, Eastman MXF221 polymer has been equipped with unequivocal chemical compatibility with the toughest of disinfectants that are used to tackle healthcare-related infections. In addition to this, the latest polymer is said to possess an inherent capacity to withstand hazing, discoloration, stickiness, cracking, and crazing – characteristics that suit the requirements of the end user verticals.

Speaking on the development, the Global Market Development Manager of Eastman, Ellen Turner was quoted stating that the firm is committed to assisting consumers to choose the appropriate polymers in order to fulfill their product demands. She further stated that the overall polymers and advanced materials industry has been evolving at a rapid pace which requires companies like Eastman to provide better services to various brand owners.
