Ginkgo & RPA market giant Transcriptic team up to drive automation

The collaboration of Ginkgo Bioworks, the renowned organism company with the robotic cloud laboratory Transcriptic, created quite a stir in robotic process automation industry. Reportedly, both the companies have reached a new five-year agreement, valued over USD 10 million, that will bolster Ginkgo’s engineering and automation capabilities with Transcriptic’s robotic automation expertise.Ginkgo is planning to incorporate Transcriptic’s robotic automation software into its Boston-based foundries, which already rely on robotic software to automate their work on organism design. For the uninitiated, Ginkgo Bioworks uses an organism like yeast to generate specialty chemicals and ingredients for the enzyme, agricultural, and the flavor and fragrance end-use domains. Transcriptic’s software integration will automate Ginkgo’s experimental design process, thus adding better flexibility and remote monitoring capabilities to the company.

For the record, Transcriptic is quite an acclaimed player in robotic process automation market that provides software to automate repetitive processes with an aim to make research increasingly scalable, faster, and less expensive. The company has been steadily advancing its tech offering, providing an unprecedented scale to biotech companies.

Transcriptic’s engineers will be providing on premise services to Ginkgo and will work alongside the company to enhance their own software and as well as to improve Ginkgo’s efficiency.

Robotic process automation market has been gaining considerable traction of late, as automating the right processes allows engineers to shift their focus to more complex processes that require a considerable stream of thought and design expertise, rather than handling the repetitive tasks. Allegedly, Transcriptic with its robotic automation software will automate the laborious lab processes of Ginkgo and will significantly scale its output capacity.

The partnership between Ginkgo and Transcriptic is not only expected to double Ginkgo’s monthly foundry output but is also slated to improve its speed & efficiency of product delivery.
