n a statement provided by Malibu Club, Aleesha Mathis said,

“The Young Life Mission is saddened by the recent tragic accident at Malibu Club after a camper entered the waterway at camp. The camp and Canadian search teams are currently searching for the camper. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of this camper. We continue to care for and provide support to our guests and campers.”

“The area is challenging both because it is so remote but also because of its proximity to the Malibu rapids, which is an area known for its strong tidal flows,” Harrison Mohr of Sunshine Coast RCMP told CTV Vancouver.
