Dog found alive in rubble after Italy earthquake

A dog was found in the rumble following the devisating earthquake in Italy.

The golden retriever called Romeo was pulled out alive from a pile of rubble in central Italy 10 days after towns in the area were levelled by a magnitude-6.2 quake.

Video released by the fire department showed firefighters freeing the dog on Friday from the ruins of a building in Amatrice, where 231 perished in the August 24 quake.

Firefighters told The Associated Press rescuers heard the dog bark as they were accompanying the pet’s owners to retrieve essential belongings from their quake-damaged home.

His miraculous rescue comes after a cat was saved from the rubble of the earthquake six days after the tremor struck.

The cat was given some water by its rescuers before being united with its delighted owner.
